We are going to the Village Vanguard to see them again tonight. When we are in NYC on a Monday we see the VJO. An essential experience for Jazz lovers. Not to be missed!

I am really quite astonished and disturbed by the negative comments about this band and its wonderful musicians and the great composers who have written and continue to write for them. Epithets like "old fashioned" are missing the point. Good music aspires to be timeless. This particular arrangement by Mcneely is subtle, harmonically rich and well structured. It grooves and delights. The lack of respect for this band and its history saddens me.
