Part One - Slaves to Superstition

Prof Richard Dawkins tackles the epidemic of irrational, superstitious thinking which is blotting the light of logic and evidence. After garnering tips on psychics' entirely earthly trade secrets from the illusionist Derren Brown, Dawkins attends a seance and confronts the medium. Time and again, the interviewees appeal to personal revelation or second-hand anecdote to justify their belief.

  • Dawkins points out that we have gone to the moon, cloned a sheep, ect. Those accomplishments have all been achieved by about 0.00001% of the population. A very small minority understands and makes scientific advancements. The rest of mankind is just hairless apes who live superstitious lives that benefit, yet don't understand, what is going on around them.

  • I hope that the internet helps to free humanity from religious superstition, but maybe I'm too optimistic.

  • @TheGildedStar If only all of the apologists on these videos were ignorant, but teachable 13yolds.

  • @ndrthrdr1 thanks to the internet I am no longer a muslim! Here in the middle east they try and censor it but that just makes you think about it more (if the quran is so right then why should we not be allowed to see other opinions?)

The internet gives people a lot of freedom to choose what they want to see so as long as it remains neutral it will always help free people :D

  • This is the first time I have seen some indian douchebag that thinks he is so fucking wise and in touch with the universe. THE FIRST FUCKING TIME.

  • @ndrthrdr1 I can proudly say that I was a Christian when I had first got internet access at age 13 - and became an atheist a year later. I started out wanting to research my religion, and was always debating those "stupid atheists" because I wanted them to see that OBVIOUSLY Christianity was the way to go.

After enough research and debating, what was once the most important thing in my life, I realized to be a mere illusion. Thank you, webernetz.

  • "It is not imposed, it is there" - LOL cool story bro.

  • @ndrthrdr1 I think the Internet will destroy religion within 20 years.

  • @edwardschlosser1 couldn't agree more, I think this will always be the way, when they are shown with intangable evidence they turn up their noses at it, we cant win.

  • @ndrthrdr1 Sadly, you're too optimisic. There are so many idiots who perpetuate more stupidity, it's a losing battle. I think there are more rational people than ever, but that might be a numbers game. Larger population, more raional people, however, more idiots too.

  • That amazes me about the conspiracy people. They just throw out all reason & evidence then come up with flawed views on how things work & hold onto those beliefs like their lives depend on it. Millions of people watched jets fly into buildings, there are countless films of it yet they somehow believe it was something else. It would be amusing if so many people had not of been killed.

  • @ndrthrdr1 Unfortunately it's a double-edged sword. The internet can also help propagate religious superstition. That superstition is a very seductive thing to those that allow their emotions to override their capacity for rational thinking. The internet is just another way to expose people to that seduction.
