Close up of the system that adjusts feeder container's position when it is done dropping food. Essentially, a photo sensor will indicate the Arduino board when the motor should stop moving when it no longer detects light coming from a laser beam. The container has a wooden tab that turns along with the container and blocks the laser whenever the container's opening is facing up, and blocking the laser.
