i may sound so cynical but the truth is that there are injustices inside the church that the bishops must address before demanding justice in politics. the church itself is a government. surely, any organization run by people is prone to corruption. any human organization has a mallady that needs to be cured.
a more challenging task for the bishops is to be more introspective with regards to issues, meaning, they must look into their fold first and begin the transformation within the church rather than call for social transformation from others!!!
this doesn't mean that the church must not speak out. in fact, the church must speak out loudly but more careful, not political sounding but spiritual. the way the most of the bishops speak now are political rather than spiritual. i hope they speak more of what the Church's believe to be right in every issue and not their individual insights.
the catholic chursh has been aggresive and should be since they have the mission to shepherd the people not only in terms spiritual but also moral and political, it's all socio connected. however, the catholic church as a one collective "spiritual" body must stay neutral especially in political matters.
I miss Cardinal Sin. When he was around, the Church has a strong and clear voice on issues. But now bishops give conflicting and confusing statements. I'm sure it is not where the Catholic Church stands but just their individual "conviction." I hope the bishops don't shed confusiona among their people. They are suppose to be "shepherds" after the image of Christ.
