@ihl0700677525 yeah but still you can't deny the fact that the mongols had managed to crush the muslim empire in the middle east mobilizing only an army that didn't even exceed 100,000...they've managed to bring the muslim empire an empire that europe had been at stalemate at for hundreds of years while still fighting wars in east asia

@khoihq Well, both Genghis and Alexander had similar achievement (much of Mongol conquest were completed by his sons, not by Khan himself). Both was 'prince' that unite fractured tribe or city-states to conquer great empire.

I think the fate of both empires was decided just after their great leader's funeral. The mongols were more fortunate, as Khan's direct descendants were more united than Alexander's bickering generals.

@lcddg RIght. I also heard that Mongol incursion on eastern Europe against the Teutonic knights (or some other military order) didn't proceed smoothly. It seems that mongol cavalry has range and stamina, but sucks when forced to close quarter combat (as they storm the knight's fortification) against heavily equipped opponent . I think if they keep moving west, they will eventually suffer historic defeat.
