James Christian using a snare drum to tell a Bible story

A few years ago, I took a speech & oral communication class at college, and we had the assignment to give a speech using some kind of sensory aid (audio, visual, etc.). I chose to tell the story of King Jehoshaphat in 2 Chronicles 20 using a snare drum. (I would have liked to include more drumming, but there was a time limit.)

This isn't the most amazing drumming in the world, but I hope you will enjoy the way it is integrated into the story. Hopefully, this will give you some ideas on how to use rudimental drumming in different venues and how to be creative in telling Bible stories.

Nice playing and choice of words...Did you work off a script in the learning phase?

Yes, I had a script & sheet music. I typed out the spoken words, and I wrote down the music on staff paper.

What was the mark you got for this assignment? It's pretty good.

I think I got an A, if I remember correctly.

Actually, the day after I gave the presentation, the professor asked me if he could tape it. (So this recording is a repeat performance; hence, the reason I'm not dressed more formally.) For a couple of years, they showed the classes this video as an example of how to do the assignment. I'm not sure if they're still using it or not.
