Live performance in Salt Lake City in 2004 by Real Life.

This track was the only single released from their 1986 album Down Comes The Hammer. It was called Bleeding Babies in the 12" mix on their 1989 album Let's Fall In Love.

This single failed to chart and caused Real Life to lead a quieter life for a few years.

  • @deepmelody1991 Nah. It's not that cool. It would have WAAAAAAAY cooler if I married all four of 'em! Come to think about it, can you imagine how many jocks & socks I'd have to wash every week? One'll do me ; )

  • @irynski, WHHOOOOOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!! That's so cool!!!!

  • @deepmelody1991 Haha! That's the bizarre gap between parents and children. I think that you're at that age when your relationship with your mother is tested and re-defined. It's very awkward because neither parent nor child want to acknowledge each other as individuals. It's a strange time, indeed.

I'll have to look into the extended dance mix. I'll ask my husband - who was one of the members of Real Life. I know that the guys aren't even aware of most of the mixes...

  • @irynski, relax, relax. I was joking. I don't even have this song neither in album or digitally... yet. I'm not sure how she will react to it though. Guess I don't wanna tempt fate. Then again...

Anyways now I got another treasure to look for, the album with the extended dance mix, Miracle Mix/Garcia Club Mix, radio version and all the dub versions, including the instrumental one. Yes, I looked it up. Wonder how they all sound...

  • @deepmelody1991 Are you serious about your mum not liking it because of the lyrics? How old is she? I can't imagine that to be true! I'm 52 & I can promise you that I'm not adverse to FAR more controversial lyrics/rap, etc.! I don't know anyone in my age-group (up to 60+) who wouldn't enjoy the lyrics!

  • @irynski, the info source was Wikipedia, if it matters at all. I checked out "God Tonight", which wasn't on the "Best Of Real Life" CD. It's really good (and understandably controversial of sorts), though I won't be playing it at Mom's any time soon... XD

  • @deepmelody1991 I suspect you may have been thinking of 'God Tonight' which was just starting to get airplay in the US at the time of the first Gulf War. It was banned because of lyrical content:

    'to hell with money

    to hell with guns

    to hell with poverty

    death and drugs

    to hell with hell

    to hell with hate

    to hell with fear

    to hell with AIDS'

So, it was whisked off air pronto as the lyrics were considered seditious!

  • @irynski, at the time I was researching this band, I noticed this song. I tried to look up more info on it but only found that it was controversial. That's it. I bit the bullet and bought their "Best Of Real Life" CD which is basically their "Send Me An Angel '89" and, thankfully, the song turned out to be about human helplessness or something.

  • @deepmelody1991 WAS it controversial? First time I've heard that!
