  • Thank you Elliot!

  • oh....there was one more important thing......my harp teacher said that at one point, there were a lot of issues with broken strings happening quite often and from the research I can find, it sounds like it was the Nancy Rae harp of Carl's not John's but I am still not clear. Strings can get expensive. Did you experience a lot of broken strings during your one year with it?

  • I actually only had it for a couple of months. However, it never broke a string that whole time. I really couldn't say a negative thing about it; it is the best lever harp I have ever played!

  • This is great! Someone who played "John" harp for a year. Were you ever disappointed there were only 36 strings and not 38? Was there a reason you did not purchase one? Did you find the sound warm and mellow or big and bright? Does the extended soundboard make that much difference? I promise, this will be the last of it. Such a huge purchase (clearly you know). Much appreciation.

  • No, I'm more than happy to answer your questions! The sound was very warm and mellow but also very big. The bass was incredible, I think due to the extended soundboard. And, of course, the Camac levers are the best. The only reason I didn't purchase it was because I already had two harps. I still may purchase one someday if I ever sell the lever harp I have now (a Salvi Ana).

  • And, btw, I was never bothered by the fact that there were only 36 strings.

  • This is very nice.

  • What state do you live in? I live in CA

  • The Salvi Ana is where I thought I was heading until I encountered the Pratt Chamber. Warm and big are what my ears like and I think it is a beautiful harp esthetically. I can not figure out why more harp makers do not make lever harps with the extended soundboard....seems to make so much sense to me. Thank you so much for your time and insights!

  • It is definitely the one made by John Pratt. I even emailed him when I first rented it to ask him a few questions about it.
