Puerto Rico is influenced with African culture through its music, food and the diverse people.. Loiza and Carolina are two sections of the Island that has a large black population.. Loiza was populated with freed or escaped slaves that were taken to the island from Africa. March 23 1873 Slavery was abolished in Puerto Rico.

This is so beautiful! I'm 75% black but 100% PR and proud. People need to recognize their heritage and embrace it. Most PR's dont acknowledge the fact that 46% of all PR'a are decendants of Africans.

I'm Puerto Rican, my skin tone is like a light cinnamon color, but if somebody

call me "Hey Negro!" which means "Black" or more understandable for the Americans; "Nigga" I won't get offended by any mean, and we call ourselves that way in a common way, even if the other person looks completely white. We are taught to respect races, skin tones and to have an opinion of people based purely on personality and actions. Most of our families are mixed and we love the black and white equally.

I enjoy visiting the island, Im a blk. guy and I notice they dont treat me like a stranger. People there are very friendly and helpful. (Im not saying there are no bad apples) I guess its difficult to be close minded and racist when your people are mostly mixed.
