Get Smart Demisode: "99 Loses Control" part 1 of 2

This is a demisode, which basically means I cut out just enough of it to make it fit into two videos. So, it's not exactly a full episode, but it's darn close!

In "99 Loses Control" 99 decides to quit CONTROL. She's agreed to marry the handsome, charming and rich Victor Royal who she met on her vacation to Saint-Germain Island. Of course, a jealous Max follows her. He soon lands a job as Royal's bodyguard and is not long in discovering that Royal is not all that he appears to be...
Oh, and Bob Hope has a great cameo in this episode!

oh man, i'm only 17 but i was in the 60s so i could watch every episode.

Wow! This must be a later season. I own the DVD of season 2 and they're horribly dull and terribly written. Much much more boring and sophomoric than I remember as a kid. This episode displays a bit of decent writing with good dialogue. And it's the most dialogue 99 had in almost all off her scenes in season 2 combined.

cont: I'm sure at one point, early on,  they prob were gunna give 99 a name but after they saw fans speculating about it, they prob decided to run with the joke.

Who care what her real name is? Thats kinda the running gag. TV uses this device a LOT.

Heres a few examples:

1. We never see what Norms wife Vera looks like in Cheers

2. We never see what Nile's wife Maris looks like in Frasier

3. We never hear Morn's voice in Star Trek: Deep Space 9

I'm sure there's other examples as well. (We never see the grown up's on Peanuts? lol) Basically, it's nothing but an in-joke.

The performances in the teaser are REALLY good -- much better than what you'd usually see in a 60s sitcom. Look especially at Barbara's reaction @ 1:46-47. That's one of the few times 99 visibly expresses anger or frustration over something Max does or says. Don's expression @ 1:58 conveys heartbreak exceptionally well. I know I've worn that look a time or two....
