This is Xgl/Compiz(now known as Beryl Project) running on my secondary comp which is an old (2002) dell with 2.4 ghz P4 proc, Nvidia 6600 GT gfx card, and only 512 megs of RAM.

The music is Sidology Ep 2: Trinity, By Machinae Supremacy.

This Linux install was SuSE 10.1 and I now use Sabayon Linux. Which you can get here:
http://www.sabayonlinux.org Three versions include Mini CD install, Full x86 32bit install and Full x86 64bit install DVDs!

The theme is a custom theme; which unfortunately I lost when my main hardrive died on me. :(

However, you can get the wallpaper I used from my box.net account here:
http://www.box.net/shared/static/ssvc...

A few other cool backgrounds here:
http://www.box.net/shared/static/vbne...
http://www.box.net/shared/static/vfqj...

The original backgrounds I downloaded from www.caedes.net; a great site which has many many more awesome backgrounds. The cubecaps are from art.gnome.org.

Go here for 'Powered by Free Software' cubecap (this one was downscaled from the original using gimp to 1280x1024 to work with my res)

http://art.gnome.org/backgrounds/othe...

and here for 'Linux - Rided The Wave' cubecap.

http://art.gnome.org/backgrounds/othe...

The skydome can be found here. It, along with several of the others below, I made myself by splicing a mirrored version of the original and modifying it slightly so the two sides don't appear as perfect replicas of each other.

A couple other cool skydomes:
http://www.box.net/shared/static/tgm7...

enjoy :D

haha... I love fools like you that don't understand the concept of utilizing the CPU for compute and relieving it from performing tasks especially good at being run by the GPU. Like rendering Graphics and Compositing Multitasking operations like here that CPU cycles get wasted on in YOUR LAME Windoz PC!!! lol... get a life and maybe a brain that can figure that out!!! ;-P

Microsoft Window 7 is about 4 years too late! xD ....notice the date on this and no way can Windows anything keep up with the multitasking and ease of this user interface, even on that old hardware! :D

I would love to see anyone operate a Windoz OS this fast and fluid.... that even on an Intel i7 with lots of RAM! *_^

This video is now over 6 years old & it was really simple to run on computer equipment that was over 10 years old back then. I put this up to demonstrate the superior multitasking abilities of Linux over any other OS. That feature alone has also been demonstrated on a Touchscreen around that time. Something Linux has been doing longer than any other OS & better as well.

The Reality is that Linux has always been the Innovation Leader. They were the first out w/ a 64bit Desktop too!

They're really fluid because back in 2006, probably even earlier (I wouldn't know because I got into Linux Distros in 2006), the compiz effects were so much more fluid, especially the wobbly windows and just pretty much every other compiz effects.

Nvidia recommends a certain driver, but if you use it then you're os won't use ANY 3D acceleration and desktop environments with 3D effects will crash leaving a simple background image and royally screwing everybody, so I chose the later driver (Or as they should call it, the functional driver.) and now I'm not getting tearing and lag. (And I can use the effects, as in ALL of them as long as it gives no bitch fits because of "Interfering effects".)

Yeah, its called a hackintosh, you can find tuts on youtube for how to do it. Anyway, I rarely play pc games. When I do, it's usually minecraft with my friends or Zelda on an N64 emulator (not for the gameplay, I like to mod it :P)

You're booting Mac OS X on a PC? O_o hmm... I'm playing Skyrim on PS3, so it's probably playing better on your PC. Lately I'm playing Horn & Dark Meadow on Nexus 7. I'm actually liking the touchscreen game play!

I rarely play games on PC now. Even though I've got the hardware for it!

So good on you, playing Skyrim. PS3 should be playing it ok, but I think M$ made sure they got exclusives for Xbox and PC. Seems crippled on PS3 w/ one problem after another getting fixed!

My pc's actually not bad. I can play Skyrim with high-quality graphics and high-resolution with hardly any lag at all without overclocking it.
