The "Densha de Go!" (means "Let's Go by Train" in English) is a popular train simulation game series in Japan. The game originates in 1996.

"Densha de go! Shinkansen EX(EXtend, EXtra or EXtreme) Sanyo-Shinkansen-line version (山陽新幹線編)" is get more real graphics and due to be released for "brand-new Nintendo Wii" on March 1, 2007 in Japan.

The 0(zero)-Series (0系) Shinkansen were the first trainsets built to run on Japan's new high speed rail network, and are therefore still the image of the Shinkansen in the minds of most non-Japanese because of all the publicity they received when the first Shinkansen line began operation in 1964.

The 100 Series (100系) Shinkansen were the second generation Shinkansen design, produced between 1984 and 1991 for the Tokaido-Shinkansen and Sanyo- Shinkansen lines; the earliest units have now been withdrawn from service, and the series has been retired from the Tokaido Shinkansen line in September 2003.

The 300 Series (300系) Shinkansen high-speed trainsets for Japan's Shinkansen dedicated high-speed railways were introduced in 1992 on the Tokaido and Sanyo Shinkansen lines for use on the fastest Nozomi services, being capable of 270 km/h (168 mph). As more were delivered (66 trains by 1998) they replaced earlier units on Hikari service and allowed the thus displaced 100 Series units to finally in turn displace 0 Series units on almost all services.

The 500 Series (500系) Shinkansen are the fastest, most powerful and most expensive trainsets yet to run on Japan's Shinkansen high-speed rail network. They are designed to be capable of 320 km/h (200 mph) although they currently operate at a maximum of 300 km/h (186 mph) in service. The running gear utilises computer-controlled active suspension for a smoother, safer ride. All sixteen cars in each train are powered, giving a maximum of 18.24 MW of power (25,000 hp). Each train costs an estimated \5 billion, or over US$40 million; because of that pricetag, only nine were built.

JR West began operating the Hikari Rail Star (レールスター) service in 2000. This service is limited to the Sanyo-Shinkansen, and uses special 8-car 700 Series trains with a distinctive livery. JR West introduced the service to provide better competition against airlines on the Osaka-Fukuoka route. The reserved seat cars on Hikari Rail Star trains feature a 2-2 seating arrangement instead of the 3-2 arrangement found on other Hikari. The front row of seats in these cars feature power points for laptop users.

The 700 Series (700系) Shinkansen trainsets for Japan's Shinkansen dedicated high-speed rail lines were built between 1997 and 2004, entering service in 1999. The design goal was to produce a train almost as fast as the 500 Series Shinkansen but at a substantially lower cost. This goal was met, and 83 trains have been built and are in service. Top speed in service is 285 km/h (177 mph), but given that speeds higher than that are only permitted on a few stretches of line, the journey time is actually only a little longer than for a 500 series.
Its body was shaped by Genetic-algorithm simulation.

What's new on Wii.

The Wiimote is put to use in the new Kids Mode, which simplifies operation of your train and makes all on-screen readouts easy to see. To make speed adjustments in this mode, you simply shake the Wiimote. During your ride, you point the Wiimote at the background to search for hidden characters.

Outside of Kids Mode, you have access to a Free Run mode, which does away with time limits, and a standard operation mode, which uses real time tables and has players manage changes in car numbers as you advance along your line. These modes use a standard button interface.

All the regular Densha de Go features are being planned for inclusion as well. You can view the action from either a first person perspective or from outside the train. Purists will love the gallery, which offers video footage and pictures of real Shinkansen trains.
