Integrating Data to Enhance Arizona's Learning - Improving Teacher Quality (IDEAL ITQ)

With support from the Helios Education Foundation, an interdisciplinary and international team based at Arizona State University undertook to revise a set of ITQ (Improving Teacher Quality) courses originally funded by the Arizona Board of Regents.

The courses to be revised were chosen to cover all areas of the Arizona Academic Standards for middle school science.

In the case of Inquiry, the ITQ project chosen required realtime collaboration in a Project-Based Learning course with the topic of Geographic Literacy. The technologies used included Moodle and, for realtime collaboration, the virtual world of Second Life.

Machinima videos were created by the Vesuvius Group to document the collaborative efforts of two teams of participating teachers who worked at a distance to meet class goals.
