@carat79 House music was a bit before newbeat.In my eyes, Major US cities like NY,chicago, and detroit started EDM. Europe then took it and completely revolutionized it! Either way, newbeat didn't get the credit it deserved.

Funny how people always think the Dutch somehow invented popular electronic music, while this was years before they made it mainstream. In reailty it was Belgium, France & Germany that were at the roots of this stuff.
