Péter Csaba was born in 1952 in Romania (Tranylvania) in a musical Hungarian family.
He studied the violin, composition and conducting, first in his hometown Cluj with Péter Zsurka and then at the Ciprian Porumbescu Music Academy in Bucharest with George Manoliu (Enescu's pupil) . After having won several national and international prizes, including the Paganini competition in Italy, Péter Csaba was recognized as a musician of first order.
Since 1983 Csaba has been living in Lyon, France, where he is a professor at the Conservatoire, and he has also made a career as a conductor and soloist of the Orchestre de l'Opéra and Orchestre National.
Csaba has founded two chamber orchestras. Les Solistes de Lyon and Virtuosi di Kuhmo.
He also tours the worls as a conductor and soloist, both with larger orchestras and chamber ensembles. He also works with artists such as Krystian Zimerman, Pierre Fournier, Natalia Gutman, James Galway, Márta Gulyás and Peter Frankl, to name but a few.
Since the beginning of the season of 1994/95, Peter Csaba has been acting as artistic leader and chif conductor of Musica Vitae Chamber Orchestra in Växjö, Sweden.
Péter Csaba has made several recordings, bot has a violinist and as a conductor. In 1994 his latest records, „Sibelius Music" (Ondine) recorded with Virtuosi di Kuhmo was chosen for one of the „best classic records" int he U.S.A.
From 1994 Péter Csaba is artistic leader and chief conductor of the Besancon Symphonie Orchestra, and from 1996 is Head of the Orchestra Classe at the Lyon's Music Academy.
Currently he is the Artistic Director of the Encuentro de Música y Academia de Santander.
