  • Bahrkie,

In this throw, you can really see (i) Litvinov's tremendous "extra" radius he achieves on his wind by countering the hammer's weight perfectly with his body movement; and (ii) you can see very well how much better he blocks his left hip and leg at the end of the throw, turning his arms just into the end of that whip and creating maximum hammer head speed! My man!

  • Well, to me it seems as if Sedykh would be a more elite thrower because he went FURTHER with 3 spins.. meaning he's (i) stronger (ii) faster and (iii) more efficient with his technique! thats just my opinion though, i respect your opinion, and there's no doubt that these two are the best EVER!

  • bahrkie, (Let's see if it also takes my few remaining words.)

"in the instant just before release. (You could call that "efficiency". But, look again at Litvinov's wind in that short video you put up; and, you can really see there his greater left hip and leg block creating a much better whip effect and even greater head speed. (I added a comment to that video addressed to you.I did the same thingAtThe video "Litvinov, In Cork, Ireland 1984".WhoHasWRnow?IthinkSomeoneHadaFlukeThrowtoTakeWRaway.

  • I don't know about fluke... at the Cork County Champs. Sedykh broke the than world record by over 2 meters! Thats phenomenal.. the average of Sedykh's world record series of 6 throws was 85.78 i'm not sure it was a fluke

  • You guys. Sedykh is the weaker one of them, Litvinov was a physical phenom, so let's not call him a weak thrower. Sedykh only cleaned 160kg when he broke the world record. Study their technique closer and you'll see that Sedykh have the more superb tech - He looks directly at the hammer, countering from the very beginning, having his feet much closer to his shin, creating a greater radius between head and hammer head. And the fact that he can build up the speed in only 3 turns is also a proof.

  • Bahrkie, Well, I admit that, having been a relatively less strong, speed and acceleration thrower myself, and having had the honor to lose to Litvinow, I admit to being his fan for sentimental reasons.(He was a really nice guy. He could not speak english, but he still tried to show me what I was doing wrong.)And,with Sedyihk, you can't argue with the tape measure! He was definitely stronger, but he still retained the ability and timing to put engage his great power vertically [continued]
