Hundreds of volunteers with helping hands took to their South Florida streets and neighborhoods to provide both relief and service to private and public sectors in their communities on Saturday, April 24, 2010. From assisting the homeless in Ft. Lauderdale to beautifying neighborhoods and parks in Miami, volunteers both young and old were eager to help those in need during a time where economic hardships have fallen upon many families and local agencies. These acts of service were affiliated with the 2nd Annual Day of Service organized by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints (LDS). Congregations from the Florida Keys to West Palm Beach linked arms with city, county and community organizations where more than 10,000 volunteer hours were rendered at 17 locations across South Florida. As their work came to an end, volunteers across South Florida were happy to have spent their day serving others in their communities and look forward to serving again next year.
Congratulations on your outstanding service to the community!

Wonderful projects to benefit our communities. It's great to see so many young people helping to make a difference in our local neighborhoods. Hopefully we will see more Florida youth participate in projects like these.
