Our aircraft lining itself up on the northern edge of the island, facing south, to land on CI. This was the first piece of land we had seen since departing Learmonth nearly two hours earlier, a real "Land Ho" moment. You can imagine what it would have been like in the days of sail - every flying hour for us would have been a good two or three days and nights in a ship. Dampier et al must have been pleased to land on CI for the first time in 1688, even if it took them ages to find anything resembling a safe natural harbour.
