Waiting for Marriage

Disney Channel star (and NOT the next Miley Cyrus), Selena Gomez, tells Extra TV she's saving herself for marriage. Well, of course she's supposed to wait until marriage. Aren't we all? But Hollywood has to consider this newsworthy.

I hate when people say that there is nothing wrong with having sex before marriage. There is. The media makes it seem as though it isn't, but that's an opinion. And about the whole 'used is less valuable than unused' is true. How many times have you gone into Game Stop and saw a used version of a game more valuable than a brand new one?

@TheFallenMistress More importantly kids are losing a sense of self-worth. Love is saving yourself for your husband even when you haven't met him yet. And when you marry him you can freely give of yourself; he will know that you loved him even before meeting him ... that you loved him so much as to promise to have sex only with him for your entire life. Finally he will know there is no other man out there with the knowledge of having slept with his wife.

@texaslonghorn2010 Christians AND non-Christians shouldn't have sex before marriage. STD's, single-motherhood, HIV, abortion. These are the consequences of sex outside of marriage. And it's sorrowful to imagine your future spouse is sleeping with someone else right now.

I am 18, intensely insecure over my virginity and my weight, and I so hope to lose enough weight that I will feel better about waiting until marriage before having sex, and to not give in to peer pressure.

I'm disappointed! I can't believe Selena had sex with Justin Bieber. I think she didn't have good or clear reasons to wait. Maybe her relashionship with Bieber have a lot of stress.

@CrankyCatholic Tthere are way too many flaws in your logic. For what you say to be true, and for everyone to wait until marriage to have sex implies that everyone is in love when they get married. Divorce happens, and forcing people to stay together if they are unhappy is wrong. Prior to divorce, if they have sex, and than get divorced, than that was a whole lifetime of waiting put to waste. God is flawed, religion is flawed, and abstinence is flawed. They are all good as ideas but not practice

because if we don't want to get married?

Sex is a pleasure moment so why should we wait. when you ready to do it you're ready and marriage have nothing to do with that.

my first time,i was 17 years . i don't want do get married (except if its advantagous financially) and i don't have regrets. But maybe its because im french and its not the same culture...
