At the time this song was written, Pete Townsend was (and still is, I believe) a devote of Maher Baba, an eastern guru and cult leader of some sort. Townsend was singing to Baba, his guru, when he originally recorded this song. So it was a religious song to begin with. Rez Band simply changed which deity/religious leader it was directed to (the only real one, IMHO).
Hints of God's truth can be found in many unexpected places. Townsend was singing to Maher Baba, his guru, so it was a religious song to begin with. Rez Band simply changed who it was directed to. (I bet they prayed and cast out demons before they used the song, too.)
Perfect song for the Rez Band to cover. How about that Rez doing a WHO song. Kewl. It needs a few more references to Jesus though, just my opinion. This is off of Innocent Blood of course, their 1989 cd. I actually have this cd. NOW why not post ROOSTER CROW? Just post Rooster Crow from the CD. I'd do it but I don't know how to and I probably don't have the gear to post the song. Somebody, a lil' help.
wow, you sure seem judgemental to me, acting as if you are holier than others, and pointing your finger. So, let me guess...you're NOT perverted, right?

Boo Hoo Bdasef!!! If more people shut the ol pie hole so that those who are lost are found it would make GODŚ job so much easier.
I love how people like you think you know the Great I am and his inspired writings so well that you speak AS IF you almost know him and his intentions. Understand this, I know your book inside and out and can quote it against you. and yet you hide your perversion with I am holier than.......but your not
As miggy50 stated, lots of unsaved rock bands write songs for Jesus & don't even know it! It's true. We just saw "MercyMe", a Christian band/songwriters do a Tom Petty
cover "Won't Back Down". It works...it's meant to be! There are messages in scripture & in songs that the unsaved cannot understand. That fact is stated in the Bible.
Nice Cover!!

Well, Townshend isn't a Christian, but this song was written with a religious meaning in mind. The biblical allusion is also deliberate.

Or, maybe you're just perfect?
Why are you so angry, anyway?
