Here is Betty singing in the movie Somebody Loves...her last big film before she walked out on her contract. Her husband at the time, Charles O'Curran, choreographed the film. One of my favorites!

  • I have not seen this film but I suspect it was not her best. The subject of the movie Blossom Seeley was a great performer. I very much enjoy the videos of her and Benny Fields

    from the GoodFellows postings.

  • This is one of my favorite films at the peak of her career - very close to an MGM musical! Betty shows a very different side in this film - so polished, so controlled - different then her usual explosive self. Her husband at the time, Charles O'Curran, choreographed the film and did a great job with the production numbers and Betty's solos. She made this film right after she had surgery to remove a growth from her vocal chords.

  • What movie is this from?

  • This clip is from Somebody Loves Me (1952) where Betty portrays famous vaudeville performer Blossom Seeley. This was her last big movie before she left Paramount Studios.

  • this is lovely! Thank you for posting it.

  • I have looked at a lot of clips of Betty and am amazed at where she gets the energy from. She would win every event in the Olympics. What a girl!!

  • The studio system back in those days was something that performers were not, UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES, allowed to challenge at all! Betty Hutton is a prime example of how stars who tried to buck that system got MASSACRED! She was at the peak of popularity after saving MGM's ANNIE GET YOUR GUN and completing THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH. Then, after this movie - KABOOM - it was over. A true waste of a brilliant talent.

  • Betty was a major star but I'm not sure she always got credit she deserved as a major talent. She had EVERYTHING--looks, voice, dancing ability, acting, projection and she wore clothes beautifully. She was forever overworked and underrewarded and got fed up. O'Curran did wonders for her, the went on to marry Patti Page and did wonders for her.

  • i love her!!!!

  • What a charm!

  • So talented! And funny and sexy!

    And really pretty as well!

I'm so glad Betty's best is here

for all of us to see.

  • I never dance. But this made me go dancing like crazy !

I'm starting to love Betty Hutton :)

  • There is a new Book on Betty Hutton. it called "Rocking Horse" By Gene Arceri... I read it. I highly recommend it for all of those Betty Hutton Fans.

  • Betty was at her peak here. Good bouncy song and never looked better. This is my personal favorite of all her movies. She could have gone on to make more of these types of films but she turned her back on it. Too bad. SOMEBODY LOVES ME is good fun with good music and a handsome cast.
