Getting dust off the sensor of a G9, without sending it back to Canon.
The dust gets in through the lens, when it extends and retracts. Before I gave up and sent the camera back to Canon to be cleaned, I figured it was worthwhile to try blowing the dust off, by blowing air into the lens, and lens mounts. (Yes, I did look into taking the camera apart. Too scary, even for me. )
I certainly wouldn't recommend it. Workshop compressors all spit out tiny droplets of oil, and you'll be very likely to blow dust *inside* the camera and onto the sensor.
I hadn't seen your video before but did the same several months ago 'cause the lens had two major specks stuck in it. (As a last resort) this method worked great!
Thanks - that worked for me with a can of dust off. It took a couple of goes but it definitely works. Great tip to open the battery compartment.. Great tip!

dust on the sensor is more visible at f8 or the bigger f number you can put on your camera

Excellent info. Worked for my G9 without having to dismantle it.
I didn't have an air hose, but a canned air-duster - and this worked fine.
Thanks again
