Sigourney Weaver speaks against Belo Monte -interview 3

In Brazil, the Belo Monte reservior alone will flood over 60 miles (500km2) of the Amazon rainforest and agricultural lands and will directly impact the Pacquicamba Reserve of the Juruna indigenous people and their lands, forcing them to relocate. This hydroelectric dam will be the 3rd largest in the world but only produce 11,000 megawatts for three months of the year; thus making this one of the most inefficient dams. Sigourney Weaver joined Indigenous leaders and activists in a peaceful demonstration in front of Brazil's Permanent Mission on April 28, during the week of the UN Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York.

I'm Brazilian and on the one hand I feel happy that she's helping, but I REALLY CONCERNED that this might end up in a reason for the USA make another war, and this time against us. There are other types of communities that are affected by Belo Monte, such as the African communities of ex slaves and other people that will lose their lifestyle and richness (that are not shown) (here watch?v=2pbln30mp7M). I really hope this ends up with the Brazilian government stopping this and other mistakes.

We're all together in this - all of us, Sigourney - u, me, the Natives... who cares what our leaders did. all of us have some valiant leaders but most r criminals to humankind and our host these days. There is passion here, from someone who cares - for the everyone. And it is being deforested much faster than america, it is also frankly more important there, for it produces MORE OF THE WORLDS OXYGEN than anywhere else. its ridiculous to say that one should NOT speak against deforestation in south america for ANY reason. Sigourney Weaver visits Brazil once and becomes an instant expert on energy, the Amazon and native Brazilians. With typical American arrogance she believes she can tell Brazilians what is best for them. I would like to see her so commited to the cause of native Americans as she is to the cause of Brazilian natives.
