During a rebuild someone thought it would be a good idea to advance my cam timing 4 deg. because my cam was a little big. It made a huge difference in the performance of the engine. HUGE! The only problem is my crank was cast and it broke clean in half at about 7000rpm. I replaced it with a few new part's and a new forged crank and now it's good to go. So does advancing the cam timing increase cylinder preasure? Also Eagle worrenteed and then upgraded the cam. I just had to pay the difference.

Oh my Strange comments with this video again.

If a crankshaft needs to be fixed does that usually mean that the camshaft will too? I phoned a mechanic and they told me that crankshaft puts pressure on the camshaft.

What is the point in this? Does your cam have to be aligned in some way or what?

Good video, but i loled at "Specified specifications"

Thanks for posting this. Degreeing can be tricky.

@Auszug21 To find tdc on cylinder one you pull out all the plugs, then rotate the engine (by the center bolt on the harmonic balancer that goes into the crank), when you turn the motor plug the #1 cylinder with your thumb, keep turning the motor until you feel air coming out when you turn the motor, and rotate until your timing mark on your harmonic balancer is aligned with the timing marker on your motor and stop. Now cylinder number one is at tdc. Boxwrench has a good video up.

question in on and assembled engine howd you find tdc?

quesiton is there a method to check cam timing without taking the engine all the way apart?
So when you got your motor running and got the cam broke in you set the timing and like 800 rpm at like 108 degrees Or 8 deg.??????
