  • I'm 90% sure that's a double bass, not a cello. It's beautiful, though.

  • @noahlittlejohn It is a cello. I think the chords he plays when the guitar is playing the melody makes it sound like a double bass, but it is a cello. Glad you like it. =) - Julian

  • This is absolutely beautiful, and as a cellist I know the cellist who plays this is extremely talented. To get that level of emotion and maturity into such simple music is very challenging, and carried off flawlessly. This piece of music is haunting and beautiful, definitely my favourite version I've heard.

  • Cello is one of the best sounding instruments out there..... this song sounds so wonderful with cello. The classical guitar in the back ground just makes the whole experience amazing!!!!!!!!!!!!! Thank you so much for sharing this. I can listen to it over and over and never get board!

  • Magnificent! The song is delicate, deep, and resonates with mystery. We listened to many other arrangements and none evoked the rare balance and allure that yours does. The awesome landscapes do as much for the eye as the music does for the ear.

  • @MintChocChip100 A good bassist can hit those notes. Every bowed part in this still sounds like a bass to me... But Esben Tind himself confirmed it's his cello, and I guess he would know. :D

  • @noahlittlejohn i'm pretty sure its a cello cuz i dont know if a bass could go that high on the second chorus part.

  • @guyugkuyg Aren't we all just mimics from the gembe?

  • @devils1604 cello is not well known? Play a song in a Violist's feet. Yeah viola is even less known than cello. AND THE VIOLA CAME FIRST! BEFORE THE VIOLIN! lolz.

  • ............???????

  • @esbentind Thank you for your input! I wouldn't say steely... It just has a very bassy quality.

    Bravo on a fine performance!

  • @noahlittlejohn yeah its on the lowest string of the cello, for the melody, i personally would have used the higher strings, but its still nice, later in the song its more apperant that its a cello :)

  • @noahlittlejohn I played most of the second part on the A-string, nothing fancy going on there :P

Although I use a french bridge, that might be part of the reason it sounds so steely. Glad you like it! :)
