Check out Sunshine, a captive lowland gorilla I believe in Pennsylvania. He is recorded now, as the biggest gorilla on record - even more so than mountain gorillas (which I know, are usually the ones who are the biggest) If I'm not mistaken, he's over seven feet tall.

The biggest Mountain Gorilla ever was not even fully growned but justa black back namned Mbongo, at the time of his death he was so large he could not be messured, weighng over 670 ibs
". His official weight was 618 pounds but at his last weighing, he was too large for the scales which fluctuated between 645 and 670 pounds. His height was 77 inches and his reach from finger tip to finger tip was 97 ½ inches"

Sounds like you know a lot more about the subject than me but to be fair i did say this is the biggest gorilla ALIVE. I got my information from my Rwandan guide. He is the only guide still working who was part of Dian Fossey's first trip to the region so I took his word for it :)

I know he is the biggest becuase there are only apx 30 large male Silverback family group leaders. As Silverbacks are substantially larger than females it is not hard for the National Park Rangers to figure out which is the biggest. All the Mountain Gorillas in the wild live on a mountain region called the Virungas that straddle Congo (Zaire), Rwanda and Urganda. It really is not that large of a place so a LOT is known about pretty much every Gorilla.
