Thanks for the video!

@crazec1986 honestly i don't know. i've been using the Gl1 and Gl2 for close to six years now and have never come across the need for it. I honestly think that it's if you have some type of external attachment such as a video light or such that can't pull enough power from the hot shoe, that the 5v DC plug would give a direct connection to the battery? that's my best guess but i don't know and we don't have the manuals anymore.

Great Video, but I was wondering what is the dc5v beside the mic input really for?

Good video, dude.

@1:57 - My buttons are labeled differently for white bal. and steadyshot...I have a GL1A. There is no label on mine for steadyshot, and the white balance button labels are on the bottom.

@jaworskij yeah this is an original 1999 model whereas the gl1a is a newer update version they released before the gl2. some things might be slightly different i was unaware of the gl1a until i googled it after reading this.

the 5volt jack was for some older shotgun attachment mikes that used an external power source (most new ones 1990> have the battery built in). it can be used to power other accessories (preamp) that use low power (<100 milliamps @ 5VDC). the manual doesn't even mention it.
