  • Q3Bits, I need a little help with a small prob.Ive been using GTK for ages now,and one of the firts things i tried was to see if i could group brushes, and it didnt work, and ive just seen you using it.And i tried grouping again but it still doesn work =[.The brushes show up as lt.Blue on the canvas, but they still just act like single brushes.. I dunno what im doing wrong, Select 2+ brushes, rightclick, func, func_group,any ideas on what im doing wrong??

  • Ah, they are grouped, the problem is a 'selection' one; getting the right key combo to select the group itself otherwise it does what you mentioned and selects single brushes.

For 1.4 you can use "Alt+Ctrl+LMB" to select a group - clicking brushes again with the same combo deselects individual brushes from the group.

Alternatively, use "Alt+Shift+LMB" to select groups.

    "Esc" deselects in both instances

  • If you're using Radiant 1.5, I've no idea as they 'moved' or 'removed' the key combos that were available in 1.4, which does make things frustrating and probably what's happening in your case...

  • Just found out.. if you're using Radiant 1.5 you can only select groups from the entity list "L". If you have a lot of groups it'll be a bit hit'n'miss though as it simply lists them without any other reference.

  • I cant find this on google but is there a way you can make something in a map (like those stairs) then transfer that part of the map into a diffrent one?

  • Yes. Makes the stairs and then save the map separately. You can then open another map and 'load' that into it.

Or, you make the stairs, *copy* the brushwork and then load in a new map - you'll get a message asking if you want to copy the selected brushwork (or something like that). Just then *paste* and you're good to go.

Failing all of that, if you use GTK 1.5 use the export to OBJ option, that will export the brushes out to a model format.

    Génial ! Bien ! Super ! Excellent ! Merci beaucoup !

  • Google Bubbas Arena, he has really gd guides for Quake, and Return To Wolfenstien. His guides cover the baisics and he also has some prefabs to work with.

  • I'd use prefabs, select the brushwork you want to use in other maps, then Edit > Save Selected As Prefabs. Then save them somewhere. Then in you other map do, Edit > Load Prefabs, and loads them =].I normally make prefabs of door sets and windows, saves alot of time if you want complicated windows instead of bit holes =]

  • thanks alot,im surprised it took me this long to find out and tyvm for letting me know. and i use GTK 1.4, cant stand 1.5 xD

  • Thanks
