@mulatasoy84 That is a very great point! I agree, that IVF should be covered. Ugh...dont even get me started on people on welfare who have 4 billion kids (with no intentions of getting off) I have no problem with people who use welfare when needed, but I can't stand when people live off it for years and years!

I think the insurance company looks at weight loss surgery as a cheaper expense long term. Obseity causes hypertension, diabetes, and an laundry list of other health problems. If they can avoid paying for those things, they come out ahead. However, I too think its crap that they don't pay for IVF, having gone through it myself with negative results.

I think that there should be coverage for ivf just like they do weightloss surgery. I guess it is the fact that being obese can be life threatening and affect health and having a baby is just a want or choice as well.
I am just curious how many attempts you think insurance should cover

@mommyof22010 I believe that as a high tax paying citizen who also pays for health insurance their shouldnt be a limit as long as one is paying to be insured. Their are many woman that go on welfare, continue having children, receive all kinds of aid and continue to have children and will never pay a dime for health insurance because its all paid by taxpayers. In the lifetime of a person who is on welfare they will spend more on them vs paying for coverage for ivf.

I understand what you are saying, because I feel like everyone has the right to be a parent if that is what they want. And I dont think it should be as easy as it is to get weight loss surgery. But, with things like the lapband it is a one time thing. IVF can take a few attempts. And also, do you think there should be a limit to the number of tries that a couple has at IVF before the insurance no long covers it? I do think that insurance should cover IFV, but to a certain point.

@mommyof22010 Yes this surgery for them may be a onetime thing but how long did it take for them to get to this point where the health insurance companies are left to pay for their diabetes, asthma, hbp, heart disease, and many other conditions accompanied by their weight which all adds up in time. It's sad because if a health insurance company can pay for a pregnancy they should pay for ivf. Thx for commenting.
