This is the re-recorded version of "Pale Shelter" by Tears for Fears which was released in March 1983 on their first album The Hurting.

Roland Orzabal and Curt Smithth met as teenagers in their home city of Bath, Somerset, in southwest England. The band's name "Tears for fears" was inspired by Primal Therapy, developed by the American psychologist Arthur Janov, which gained tremendous publicity after John Lennon became Janov's patient in 1970.

Tears for Fears were signed to Phonogram Records, UK in 1981 by A&R manager Dave Bates. Their first single as Tears for Fears, "Suffer the Children" (produced by David Lord), was released on that label in November 1981, followed by the first edition of "Pale Shelter" (produced by Mike Howlett) in March 1982, though neither of these releases were successful.

  • GTA vice city ?

  • I find this song to be both very light & dark at the same time. The perfect mix for an 80s song. In the 90s everything was all too dark all too one sided with grunge, and today music is too light and happy, not very deep. Now that said I do like some 90s stuff and some music from today, but I find that the 80s had some very sophisticated sounding music. It was very dynamic. A great combination of light & shade. Tears for fears rocks.

  • I love Tears for Fears. I was blown away with their original music. I wasn't the only fan from PI. TFF was so huge in the Philippines but TFF themselves were not aware. That's why when they finally performed in PI. They ask themselves why it took so long for them to have that concert. Tears for Fears is one of the best musicians ever.

  • @oldVideoGamesChannel haha, i noticed that too. ouch!

  • 3:50 paper airplane hits roland in the eye. LOL I guess they decided to leave that in.

  • 1 person didn't even realize hot women were in this video!!!!!!

  • I consider this one the best song of TFF, even better than "Shout" and "Everybody Wants To Rule The World".

  • Awesome song. I wonder if they planned to make Roland blind with that paper airplane at the end of the video, haha!
