  • This is one of the best interviews to ever be on american television,

  • Ok hearing Stephen talking about Britain like this makes me slightly sad, I hope that there are at least some things he loves about it, and that he doesn't move to America. They already have Hugh Laurie! Quick BBC, up his wages for QI!!

  • @royalgirl31. You can have Hugh Laurie back if you keep Madonna. Not that we don't like Hugh Laurie, we like him very much. We just hate Madonna more.

  • Why would British be embarrassed?? There's a ton of nations out there which you might feel embarrassed about as a citizen, but Britain, as most other countries which have formed from their former empire, certainly is none of them.

  • So fascinating --- as an American, I feel the same sort of regard for Canada and the UK as they are expressing for America. Wonderful countries.

  • @royalgirl31 Thumbs down.

  • americans are/were optimists

  • @royalgirl31 Of course he does! He's a Brit through and through when it comes to it. He's just describing a particular mindset of two countries, don't take it as his end all opinion on the countries.

  • @royalgirl31 Dont worry, we could never forget about how beloved britain though we make speak ill of her on occasion, we simply hide our true love to protect it... I think :)

  • @purdudan And mind me, he did state that it was simply a beguiling idea, and indeed it is.

  • @plstrom Your argument can be mutually returned to you and against you. Certainly, you must understand that there are several eras of immigration boasting varied immigrants of different statures, wealth, and capabilities. Indeed one can infer that the majority are poor and downtrodden but Stephen Fry simply stated that there is a theory and consequently described it and agreed to it to an extent. Even so, I too, to an extent, agree. After all, character is unique to the individual.

  • What about Canada? Were we not a post Enlightenment colony with immigrants that came here by choice?
