Well on Saturday we decided to wake up early and go fishing, since we live in Hamilton and know REALLY god spots up North (Wasaga Beach) we had to find some where close because we slept in and we would have gotten to Wasaga Beach to late. So we went to Dunville Ontario (1 1/2 hour) from Hamilton and try another spot we know..

In the morning i seen on the weather network that we were going to get a easterly wind and if your a real fisher man you know the fish wont bite with a easterly wind =P but we tried any way, we got to Port Maitland and all we were getting was small rock bass so we headed over to Dunville Ontario to the Grand River dam and we got a few perch and some small walleye..

as the saying goes "A BAD DAY FISHING, IS BETTER THEN A GOOD DAY OF WORK"

  • I've fished the grand sometimes.. Wheres a good spot for "shore" fishing catfish?

  • @FishingwithKT

I would say right where we were at the damn in Dunnville.

On the rocks or on the islands but you need rubber boots to get to them.

  • dunnville has been hot and cold for me sometimes good sometimes skunked when i was a kid i lived in canfield and the fishing was consistantly good but unfortunately that was 25 yrs ago and the fishing in southern ontario has declined all over.

  • @jangus894

    I hear you.

I'm only 16 and i even saw the change in the population.

When i was a young lad (4-6) my Dad would have his trout limit for the day 2 hours after we got to the spot. now ill we do is get out lines wet. it's pretty sad.

  • word of advise for any noob,, dont go there and expect to catch anything... !!! period!!

  • @guahould

You have to know how to fish to catch any thing :)

We pull out cat fish, perch and walleye

  • @FishingwithKT try above the dam.

  • Thanks for the Memory reboot...I used to go fishing for channel cats there in the 50's & early sixties with my Dad...Note: my Dad worked on the original construction of this bridge/dam

  • @FishingwithKT Hi again, Today I went to dunnville and had some luck. 3 Walleye, 1 catfish and 1 sheaphead above the dam. The cat was almost 10 pounds. Walleye about 5 pounds and the sheaphead about 2 pounds. Usually I catch catfish below the dam which is why i was suprised. Btw, you need a boat to do some good fishing below the dam. If you dont have a boat, your best bet is to go above the dam. If your interested in what I use for catfish, walleye, etc. You can email me at rapalais1@hotmail.com

  • the sheephead there is good

  • there's friggin monster goby there

  • is there any carp at dunville dam? please help!
