Last week Melanie kicked off a Comic Relief Cash Bonanza, to put £50,000 back in to Merseyside's communities, by taking part in a mixed martial arts session at Alsop high school, in Walton.

The Widnes-raised pop star, who is the official community cash champion, was the guest of Sports Alive. The company was founded with Comic Relief cash by Walton brothers Ryan and Craig Manville.

The Red Nose Day Community Cash grants will give grassroots-level clubs and societies the chance to apply for pots of money worth between £500 and £1,000 for the first time ever.
