Haiti Trip 2008

We are asking you to please show this 3 minute 55 second video in response to the unprecedented hunger in Haiti due to recent skyrocketing food prices and 4 devastating storms in less than a month. Thousands are homeless and most crops have been washed away. We have put a slide show to music that will challenge you and your church to join with us in taking up a special offering for Haiti. With this money we plan to buy and distribute food to a variety of evangelical churches and schools. This is all to be done nondenominationally and in the name of Christ. Jon Bailes served in Haiti about four years as a pilot, medic, and church planter. His wife Rosetta served as an RN. They returned home in 2000 where they are now working with a children and youth outreach program at West Park Church of the Nazarene in Fort Scott Kansas. Rosetta also volunteers at West Park with Angelfood, a food distribution ministry. Departing on October 30th Jon, Rosetta, and Dr. Self plan to fly a single engine Piper joined by Lionel and Sarah Smith of Christian Wings for the World in their Cessna. By using private planes, we can fly directly into the north coast port of entry, Cap Haitian. This can avoid some difficulties and perhaps thieves of Port au Prince. Along with distributing rice, beans, and other foods, we will provide medical care. We plan to work with Living Hope Mission in Cap Haitian and indirectly through Haiti Bible mission in Jeremie. A fund has been set up under the tax umbrella of West Park church of the Nazarene that is being managed by a committee of pastors and lay members from area Fort Scott Kansas churches.
