FibroScan is an alternative to needle liver biopsy for monitoring liver health in people with hepatitis.

Needle biopsy is still recommended in some patients and at some times

  • I have had experience with more than 3000 cases and I found that sometime I got different values from different liver sites in the same patient, for instance 3.5 kPa and 6 kpa, it's difficult decision to choose the most accuracy value. Could you have useful recommendation?

  • @majoy181226 I believe obesity is a contraindication for the procedure since it results in a falsely elevated stiffness value.

  • @mattshare

    Hope everything went well - sorry just saw your post.

    @myvideotable

    Best ask the liver doctors in your country to find out if this is available. Most European countries have these at a few clinics at least.

  • i want to get this done instead of biiopsy, im only 15 and im scared of a thick needle going in my liver... :( i have to get this done in about 2 days

  • is it same as MRE , where can i get this done , which country

  • I had one of these today and having had a conventional Liver biopsy in the past have nothing but praise for this machine - quick , REALLY painless and results immediately. I had a bad reaction to the original biopsy procedure -( passed out and blood pressure plummeted).

    With this procedure all you feel is a slight `tap` from the probe each time it takes a reading. No injections or pain at all.

  • @majoy181226 Thanks for the post. This may depend on the individual. This study in people with BMI higher than 30 (medical definition of obesity), reported 50% of people got good results (with a regular M probe) and using an XL probe increased this to 75%.

  • can it use with obesity patient.

  • Who is the hot model! Great video!
