This video is dedicated to the memory of Donnie McCormick. Oct.30,1944-Jan.11,2009

Donnie was a founding member and drummer for the band Eric Quincy Tate from 1971 to 1980. EQT started out in the mid-''60s as a Gulf Coast 6-piece, The Kings, before Uncle Sam put 4 of its members on the USS Essex. After finishing their service, the quartet was back gigging in Texas, where they made a strong impression on Tony Joe White who was instrumental in getting the group noticed. The self-titled debut from Eric Quincy Tate - a marvelous mix of blues, soul, rock, and straight ahead funk -- followed in January 1971.

Besides a regular drum kit, Donnie loved to pound on his signature instrument: a wooden chicken coop. He first banged on one at a jam session at the Allman Brothers' farm, when he grabbed the first thing he could. Over the years, fans would bring him new chicken coops, which he'd adorn with bells, a tambourine and a set of ram's horns.

This video was recorded on May 15, 2007 and is a tribute to one cool dude that had a knack for making you feel like a true friend within minutes of meeting him. I miss him a lot.
