A film by Ben Cato Clough and Luke Upchurch.

Suddenly, copyright rules no longer do what they are supposed to do. They have gone bad.

This is a film about how copyright has become one of the most important consumer issues of the digital age; why corporate lobbying risks criminalising the actions of hundreds of thousands of people; and what the future holds for the fight for fairer copyright laws.

When Copyright Goes Bad is an introduction to the renegotiation of copyright and is for anyone interested in how copyright is affecting consumers. It features some of the key players in the copyright debate, including:

Fred Von Lohmann - Electronic Frontier Foundation; Michael Geist - University of Ottawa Law School; Jim Killock - Open Rights Group; and Hank Shocklee - Co-founder of Public Enemy.

  • @akamarutv samething about government can be said and just like people say about government that the government should be afraid of its people so should companies be afraid of its users

  • Current Copyright laws is destroying the world. technological advancements are being stopped, education is being held back, thousands of movies go unseen, and Millions of songs go unheard.

  • I have every album in from Metallica (Record, Cassette, CD, Videotape) right up until the band attacked its fans and called us thieves for using Napster - since then i have paid $0 to that band. I know longer enjoy their music and dislike them passionately.

Before they were a megaband they were publicly stating that trashy bootlegs is where they got their inspiration, how they accessed most of the bands that inspired them etc - fucking hypocrites say it was good for them, not for us.

  • 14 greedy CEO's

  • @ddeadly61 [citation needed] I am the Wikipedian protestor.

  • The truth is we do have a control but it would be hard to do. We're the consumers we make them the money, if 90 percent of a corporations customers boycotted the business and said it was for lawsuit abuse, they wouldn't have a choice because without us, companies are nothing.

  • Singers, Actors, Movie Producers etc. make too much money as it is, as a consumer I like things to be free or VERY VERY cheap seeing as we get paid shit minimum wage at part-time jobs.

  • evreyone who does vids on games on minecraft will be sued that is going to be horrible

  • I am rather sure that making back-up copies of CDs to put them on an MP3 player is not illegal--if it was, MP3 players themselves would've been illegal years ago. Also, I find it hard to believe that even our crazy government today would outlaw fair use provisions.

  • @weses1 so true
