this guy made number one at all state auditions this year in texas...he obviously must be doing something right. So.......SHUT THE FUCK UP

That was good. The only things I would say is your articulation started getting murky. Slow down a little if needed. Also, don't keep looking around. Even if you know the piece by memory, whoever is watching and especially judges (hint, hint) will be better with you looking fully concentrated and nothing else on the piece. I'm impressed; there was barely any cracking and fracking, even on the high notes.

Man! You're good! Keep it up! Mississippi Lions All-State Band trumpet player
-
god this is terrible.
-
what high school are you from?
-
great job! Check out my flute channel please. Thanks!

This is why I'm glad I don't live in Texas! alabama has three allstate bands, six trumpets are accepted from each district and the competition is much easier! Have you made first chair in the Texas allstate before?

the nagel edition is marked at 124, but that's with the first two 16th notes of each beat slured. the vacchiano edition doesnt specify a tempo or articulation so it is open to your interpretation.
-
it doesn't say anything about what tempo it should go (at least in the Vacchiano edition), at 124 it'd be almost impossible to single tongue that.
-
That's good for you...so can 20,000 other trumpets out there.
-
Well done

There ARE slurs in the edition edited by Nagel. There are no slurs in the Vacchiano edition. It's marked at quarter note= 124, he played it close to 112.

The beginning is piano yes, but I would still give it an aggressive feel to it with lighter 16ths with a slight accent to satisfy the marcato marking. And I would definitely milk the Cs and the Ds on the arpettio.
Everything is fine after that. Maybe it's the acoustics in your room but a stronger forte would be better as it is a fanfare. At the piano after that I would try maybe hanging onto the legato 8th notes just a tad longer especially during the last two lines. Good luck.

My only complaint is think more dynamics.
Your forte and fortissimo were almost the same (I think your fortissimo might have actually been a little quieter)and see if pulling the beginning down a dynamic is possible, otherwise pull everything after it up a bit (with a good sound of course).
