For me, this well-known movement of the 2nd piano sonata by Chopin has a deep meaning. I feel two contradictory energies in the first part of the piece. I am in the presence of the death, the death of someone that i imagine that i like, or perhaps even love. This is the funeral and i'm obliged to walk, but in the same time i refuse this death, i am not able to accept this fact and i am revolted. Walking and not accepting this death creates a conflict in me, this is the reason why i play this march in a slow tempo. It's not an intellectual choice, but a real feeling. There is an inner and human "weight" that i want to be heard in the music. The second part of the piece, at 3 min 10", i accept that the person is gone, that he or she is in peace there. Something which has to do with heaven or only calm. A deep meditation. After that, the reality comes back and the revolt too, but not exactly in the same way, not so strong. At 8 min 08" i play this part of the theme more softly, i have accepted the separation and i say a kind of good-bye. The sufferance remains, but more peaceful...

  • oh yeah, and after you finished playing, you removed your hands perfectly haha

  • very nice

  • wow! Real cool! Loved it!

  • Very beautiful playing. Your message in what you are trying to create is very present. I am stunned by the sound quality of this piano. Your recording sounds better than many grand piano recordings I hear on youtube. I only recently discovered the Grotrian piano and delighted in playing a variety of them at Showcase Pianos here in Vancouver.

  • thanks very much!
