http://www.synergy-athletics.com - Form video for behind the head power push press. This lift can be done in front of the head or behind. It helps to strength full body explosiveness. The exercise is also called the push jerk. Don't try this lift without a spotter!

Also, only use the behind the head version if you are getting siginicant leg drive! It is important for shoulder health.

  • my friend gave me a workout plan that has me doing push press on mondays and power press on friday. What is the difference between the 2? I've also been doing it with dumbells; is that fine? Thanks.

  • @HermanHermes Good question, YES, YOU HAVE TO JUMP! Extension of the calves is key for developing explosive power with this exercise.

  • @Workhard1994 It's a push press not a strict press. Done properly, there shouldn't be a lot of strain put on your neck because your shoulders and traps don't do much for the first 1/3rd of the press. Try it and you'll see what I mean. This exercise is responsible for a lot of pro strongmen and olympic lifters developing ungodly shoulder strength. Way different than press/push press from rack position.

  • @2066241 Thats stupid. Just sayin.

  • Do I have to jump?

  • Good tip!

  • @2066241 100 pushups would be easiest i would thnk lol cept idk what undowns are

  • @2066241 Spotters are dangerous for any cleans though really, you should be doing you're power cleans/hang cleans/ hang clean push press/snatches on a platform, not in a cage. If you're on a platform and you can't handle the wait you can just let it go and let it hit the platform. Spotters could get hurt trying to spot any of those lifts mentioned above.

  • Spotting on a push press? Surely that's an oxymoron?

  • i would press from the front of my head, with the bar leaning on my chest, so that i would avoid neck-injury, but else nice
