Sorry it's been a while! High school sucks! :P Decided to go back to the old story format (: better or no?
Joe's POV
My arms were wrapped firmly around Kat's body. As moments passed, my chest started becoming damper from each tear that came from her eyes. I didn't mind. I just wanted to comfort her. But all I could do at the time was stay silent, and hold her closer and tighter each time another tear fell.
Eventually Kat sniffled and slowly choked out the words, "I think we should check in on Alli."
I pecked her on the forehead and complied with no arguments, for I had been thinking the same.
"You're right," I said "Let's go." and with that, I grabbed her hand and we walked into the room at a slow pace.
Immediately, Kat carefully let loose of my hand and ran up to Alli who was all teary-eyed, and embraced her comfortingly. I joined in, of course. The room stayed quiet for what seemed to be eternities. Finally Alli broke the silence by taking a deep breath. I stepped back and pulled Kat with me.
"About time I get some air to breathe," Alli smirked.
Just then, the ends of Kat's lips curved upwards into her beautiful smile.
"Ha. Ha. So.. what now..?" she asked a tad awkwardly then sat down in a chair next to Alli's bed. I pulled up another chair next to her and threw my leg across the other side of the chair,
"I have a better question," I said quietly, leaning forward and placing my arms over the back of the chair *AN-- Joe's sitting in the chair like a guy, like backwards, you know?* "Not to be rude, but-" I hesistated, "why are you even here in the first place?"
"Joe.." Kat hit my arm slightly trying to indicate that it was a wrong question to ask. However, Alli didn't seem too upset by it. She sat up a bit and started explaining.
"Remember way back.. Months ago.. At the movies.. that first date we all had..?"
"One of the best days of my life" I smirked and stretched my arm around Kat. Kat didn't seem to notice and continued listening to Alli intently and nodded.
"What do you remember about it?" Alli asked.
As Kat made her cute little thinking face trying to remember, trying to lighten the mood, I oh, so cleverly replied,
"Well, I do remember when we were making out," I turned to look at Kat, "you seemed to have dry lips that day, of course I didn't say anythi--" I was cut off by Kat who softly slapped my face jokingly.
Instantly Alli rolled her eyes and said, "Not that, you imbecile."
'Was that a fat joke?! (LOL :D)" I snapped and laughed. Kat made the same face as Alli did and rolled her eyes.
Suddenly, her mouth went agape. "OH MY GOD. When you fell?"
Calmly, Alli looked down and said, "Yeah. Turns out, it had like hit me again or something. Not sure. Just, yeah. It's like WAY aftershock or something.."
I know it sounds kind of rude, but I thought that was kind of stupid, instead of saying that and risking getting my head shot off by Kat and Alli I said, "Oh. That's not that much of a big deal."
Kat added, "Yeah, I agree." she looked at the both of us, "Just, now we know.. that it can happen, right?"
"Yeah.." Alli replied quietly fidgeting with her fingers.
It got awkward so I cleared my throat, "So.. let's head out?
At that point, I just wanted things to go back to normal. I wanted Kevin and Leah in the same state as us. I wanted Alli healthy, back out there, and back out with Nick.. All 6 of us hanging out, eating greasy fries and italian ices, sharing laughs, dancing in the rain and lying in the grass under the stars.. I bet, no, I KNOW, everyone else would agree. When and how did everything go so wrong? As I thought back, I realized.. Kat, Alli and Leah's lives were all so normal before we moved back.. Did that mean that I was the reason their lives got so fucked up? Why Alli was in the hospital? Why Kevin and Leah ran away? If I didn't decide to come back, everything wouldn't be so traumatizing for them all.. But what can I do to fix it all? The damage has been done.. right? Right? But.. if all that's true, then the only way to let them live their normal lives again is if..
"Kat.." I grabbed her by the shoulder, "Can I talk to you for a second..?" I asked shakily. She turned to face me and blinked.
"Wh-wh-what's wrong, Joe? You look.. scared.." To me, it looked like she was the scared one. I felt her body tremble under my hand. Looking into her dark brown eyes, I could see ( if there were any left after crying so much) tears starting to form at the corner of her eyes. Would my decision scar her even more..?
"N-nothing." I stuttered, "Let's go home.." I grabbed her hand and swiftly walked out of the hospital and got her and Alli into the car. We spent the rest of the night in the car in silence.
What does Joe wanna tell Kat? Will things ever be normal again?
