Lyrics: Ralph Maria Siegel; Music: Gerhard Winkler - 1943
Very funny performance; even if playing Capri Fischer in a venetian gondola is like singing "New York New York" wearing a ten gallon hat

  • the 1942 version by Rudi Schuricke is wonderful; but the 1972 version is awful!

  • according to Palast Orchester official web site, she is still a member of the band

  • is like singing "New York New York" wearing a ten gallon hat????????

  • @hcsiftarb

Maybe because one of the comments suggests that Eddie is something amounting to a Holocaust denier / Hitler apologist?

    Just a guess, though...

  • My God simpy the best .Max Raabe just sing, just sing.

  • Thanks for your comment - I didnt actually fight in WW2 - I was conscripted just after the war ended and spent a few of my younger, formative years in Germany. I lived with my girlfriend - her father was a POW in Russia - he returned in 1949 and found his little girl living with the 'enemy' - me! We became good friends eventaully. I have looked for our house in Duesseldorf on Google Earth but it is gone. Only the memories remain but it was a good time in my life inspite of the war! Mach's gut!

  • Mann, wie schön!

  • Dear Eddie123e, I dont know why some Comments in your profil are so disgusting. To you an 82 years old man, fighting against Germany for our freedom, and make shur 1949 as a soldier in Düsseldorf, that democracie would be etablished. And when you sung with the Germans there, as an 18year old joung man, what the bloody hell anyone should have against that? For instance I have been 1949, 7 years old German boy and without man like you, I doubt that I would have had a good life, like I didt.
