Honestly, comparing a big cat like a tiger to a common household animal is so incredibly foolish. Dogs have been bred over millenia to be domestic animals. By that term, I mean that most domesticated dogs would actually suffer worse living conditions in the wild. I also wouldn't be surprised if there is some genetic predisposition in dogs to favor a static environment without much territorial control as opposed to the vagabond, territorial nature of wolves.
