Venture capitalist Brad Burnham on the proposed SOPA / PIPA legislation. Is the controversy really about free speech, or is it just another showdown between rich and powerful Hollywood, and even richer and more powerful Silicon Valley? How will SOPA and PIPA affect everyone?

  • @DevinThomas You assume people buy things because they have to... well guess what some people buy things because they want to like to support the creator for instance. (mind you neither of my comments are specific replies they just reply to the entire argument)

  • @DevinThomas Pirated your album. you mad bro? you mad?

  • @SpiderShane1

Your comment may cause a misconception that fighting for freedom means losing guitar,

    which is NOT true

Please also note that freedom gives you freedom and also guitar.

  • @DevinThomas Some people like the album experience. Having a hard copy in their hand, some pics inside the case of tours and storys, lyrics, etc. (which you industry really doesn't even do anymore) I'm not one of those people, I could care less about the artist, I just want the art, to view or listen, not to own. You're behaving as though a copy of that has been stolen. No one's stolen anything from you, you have not been deprived of any money you spent to make a certain product.

  • @DevinThomas I never bought albums before mp3s, that's not to say I didn't enjoy music. It's just never been valuable enough to me to purchase a hard copy or an entire album. Even then you could record songs you like off of the radio (which is perfectly legal if you need a reminder). If you don't even realize free advertising and promotion when you see it, you, nor the archaic business model you cling to will ever make it.

  • @DevinThomas I sound bitter? Hahah, ok *pat pat pat* Nope. I don't feel guilty at all. I go to live concerts and performances all the time, so it's not like I don't support the arts. What I won't do is support an obsolete supply chain that does nothing but inflate the cost of art. Actually. I feel pretty good knowing I haven't given them any money. You ever get good enough and well known enough to do live concerts, I'll probably give you money too. That is if you're any good....

  • @DevinThomas Sorry to burst your bubble. It is free. ;)

How come you had to pay for those things? Because they're actual products, actual services, etc. Stop acting like I'm hiring you for a gig. We're just listening to some music. If you're wondering why you're struggling as an artist, look no further than your attitude on art.

  • @bweazel I love it when no talent losers like YOU with ZERO creativity try to make a point about something that you are clueless about. Stealing is stealing no matter how much you try to rationalize it. Oh I forgot music is supposed to be free, huh? So how come I had to pay for, my keyboards, guitars, recording gear, music lessons, etc.? I guess I just forgot to STEAL everything like YOU!
