How would it be if the USS Kelvin would have its own show? Well at least here is the intro!

UPDATE: Passed 20 000 Views! Awesome! I'm currently working on a Version 2... it's going to be at least twice as goodlooking!

This is something i made to learn Blender and how to integrate blender data with Adobe After Effects. Also did it to try out a 720p workflow (getting an idea of how it is to work with). The model is animated and lighted in Blender and the space and effects are made in Adobe After Effects CS4. Edited in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4.

  • Simple, elegant, beautiful. There's no better way to describe it. THIS is the way a Star Trek series should begin - and if this were an actual series, oh, would I be there. This opening did in under sixty-five seconds what Star Trek: Enterprise NEVER could; bring the sense of wonder and promise of adventure back to the fans. Also, that shot of the Kelvin while in warp, and the camera movement - perfect choice, and I can easily see each season, the Kelvin appearing in a new area of space. BRAVO!

  • @cathedral107 Hey! Thanks for the inspiring comment! I'm working on a remake, with higher fidelity visuals and overall a more dramatic presentation, your comment made me consider some of the camera angle choices etc i'm making for this one. Thanks!

  • @TheDragonWhelp im guessing that it remained in the form of an unmaterialized thought

  • @routhoula Not really, i had it more then half done when i got another (paid) things to work on and once i got back to making it i really felt it did not live up to the quality i was aiming for... Then there have been a lite of this and that which got me out of VFX for quite a while... But who knows, maybe i get inspired one day and decide to take it up and finish it!

  • did you make this? how did you make it?

  • Gets blown up in the first episode. Remaining 7 seasons are flyovers of the debris field it leaves behind.

  • That was cool! If they won't make it maybe u should.

  • Warp dust - what a clever effect.

Lens flare everywhere, too. JJ Abrams would be so happy.

  • Nicely done! This was a superb intro for a "what if" with the U.S.S. Kelvin. Hats off and kudos to you and Tobias for this.

  • better than the movie

  • Wow, kinda cool.

  • I'm sorry... Yes, the idea is excellent, but is the 3D created by a 10 years old child?

  • well done that was really very good
