No yellow shirts, hats, or pants.

Dress code "Yellow" is officially banned in Malaysia.

Malaysia Today reports -- the government is cracking down to prevent a July 9th demonstration organized by a group of opposition backed activists -- called Bersih -- Anyone wearing yellow will automatically be identified as a protester.

"Is it a crime to wear yellow T-shirt?"(Malaysia Today)

Yes! -- says Malaysian Home Minister in a press conference. The Guardian quotes his response:

"The Bersih T-shirt is related to an illegal assembly, then whatever they are wearing is illegal."

And he's serious -- 14 people have already been arrested in yellow.

The speech immediately caused an uproar and strong media backlash.

Free Malaysia Today uses the headline "Bullied by the State" to criticize the ridiculous irrational fear of the color yellow. Some Bersih even call July 9 Campaign a holy war to against the oppression by authority. (Free Malaysia Today)

Democratic Action Party chairman Karpal Singh -- who is also a renowned lawyer -- tells the China Press he intends to take action in court.

"The police cannot go scott-free after causing such humiliation...There is no doubt in my mind that whatever they are doing is not supported by law."

But some Malaysian citizens are staying cool in the midst of this yellow fever. On Malaysia Kini's blog, a commenter even predicts green might become the new yellow.

"...many colors are banned, namely orange (as it is claimed to be associated with Hindraf movement), black (Teoh Beng Hock) and Yellow (Bersih). I wonder the next color will be green as PAS gave UMNO a damn "no" to their unholy merger proposal through the Bersih."

So far, Malaysian police have arrested more than 100 people with suspected links to the Bersih movement. 45 are still being detained.
