Here is a video capture of the Rye fireworks display from last year, thanks to my brother Michael.
My name is James, and I was one of the pyro captains, which is quite fitting as my nickname(or name, depending on the situation) has been PYRO for many many years.
We spent the entire day setting up fireworks on the salts across the river from the salts playing fields on the 11th. The display consisted of about 2 pits of 4-5" mortars, approx 200 in total, 1 pit of 7-8" mortars, approx 60 in total, and the finale pit with 8-10" mortars, approx 20 in total. We also had about 10 wracks of candles ranging in size from a couple of inches to some larger 4 inch beasties. Along with these we had about 16 'mines' and a few cakes on a scaffolding aswell as an uncountable ammount of rockets, all setup to fire simultaenously.
This was my first experience with pyrotechnics, and I learnt how to do everything from wiring/mounting candels, to setting mortar pits to playing with remote dets.
Many thanks to everyone who let me and my Dad take part. It was an amazing night and overall experience(and felt like it lasted all of 30 seconds when viewed from underneath), and I cannot WAIT until next year!
See you all in 2007!
Wil be there tomorrow! :)
