i have the same problem but solid state drives are known for slow reading and writing esp. 8gb drives so i think thats why ?

@securityactive For good speed instal this:FlashFire,if you instal this ,not ever gonna freeze

@securityactive SOLUTION : Just type in google 'FlashFire SSD', download the latest version, install it, restart, and thats it :) It will run amazingly fast now :) I dont know how it works if Im honest, it doesnt have a .exe file once installed, it just has a folder in Program files with a like 2 files, but you dont touch them :) just install and restart :) I think its an amazing app :) Trust me, if you disagree or dont belive me, feel free to reply with insults ... But honestly, get it and see

@securityactive That sounds like it's down to either the hard drive being excessively used because of the pagefile or or because of the drive being slow. I did try windows 2000 before but did the same.

i kept my mcafee did any one els do that too?
-
mate you could try this just done it with mine.
The SSD is very fast read, but has a slow write speed so when ever xp "writes" to it it slows down and seems to lag/freeze.
look for a free prog called "FLASHFIRE" it does wonders, my start up time has gone from 45 sec to 20 sec and it runs faster.
Can I change the SSD memory or install a hard drive?

I believe you should be able to do both.
I personally dont have a need for more storage, or increased drive speed at this stage, so have not done this upgrade.
Try googling, as a few people have.

"occasional freeze now and again"
can you elaborate?
gonepishing 3 years ago
The system freezes and you can not do anything, and no system response.
Then it wakes up and off you go again.

that sounds very serious!
a few seconds meaning literally 2 second freezes? or are they longer?
gonepishing 3 years ago
No its just about 2 seconds. Its all to do with how the SSD memory currently works.
Read access is very fast, but in default windows configuration it likes to write to the drive alot, so it causes these mini hangs.
