Newborn child.

Welcomed to 'here'.
By your mother's smile.

Welcomed by all, all family and friends.

Welcomed to love, we say never ends.

Join in the toil, you do have some time.

Join in the work, that is yours and is mine.

We didn't forwarn you.
Of what you would face.

The blame rests on you, as YOU entered this place.

Now you must work, you're required to pay.
This place is not free, it's a place to stay.

This prison of souls, it's a terrible pain.
Soon you will find, it is YOU who's to blame.

For while you are here, we require your work.
You listen to us, and you better not shirk.

Of the duties assigned, reject you will not.
Listen to US, or you will be shot.

They have the power to order and tell.
Is this a planet, or is it a hell?

Soon you will know, of the truth that I spake.
Invisible bars that never will break.

Death is no option for those contained.
Only brought back, to work and to pain.

Your stay can be easy.
If you just go along.

So welcome to Earth.
Pray your stay won't be long.

I once lived with a guy who looked not unlike you, whose nickname was "Bear" - 'cos he potentially had the rage of a bear, but was also a big teddy bear.

When he split up with his girlfriend he grabbed me in a huge bearhug and began crying on my shoulder. "It's OK Ben," I squawked out, struggling for breath, "everything'll be cool!"

I think there's something in that for all of us.....
