I (Rene Nuijens) directed this video 2004 when no one had even had heard about Lange Frans & Baas B. A neighbourhood friend of theirs came in the office with a cassette tape. We liked the song and the lirics and started working on it. Their first idea for the video was to re-do the killing scenes. I did not like that. I came up with a more subtle idea to film the spots of the killings in an esthetic filmic/photographic way in combination with motion graphics. I interviewed all victims parent and family. Addikt used that information and made a stunning motion graphic dairy for each victim. What an amazing job they did. When the video came out, it was in a few weeks number one in the Dutch charts. On that day the production company I worked with stopped working with me and became the bands manager..
When the clip won the MTV/TMF Award for best directing nobody knew me or Addikt anymore... We were not invited for the event. When Lange Frans & Baas B. & the new manager took the Award on stage during the Award-Ceremony they forgot to thank us...
